Tell Me Yours

As we're closing in on my favorite novels of all time, I started getting curious . . .

What are yours?

I am in a reading lull and could use some suggestions.

Have a great weekend!

  1. A Prayer For Owen Meany by John Irving. It's been 10 years since I read it, but it's the only novel I remember reading that made me both a) laugh out loud more than once and b) feel genuinely sad when it was over because there was no more to read.

(The movie Simon Birch was made from it, but as I recall there was enough changed in the movie that reading the book wouldn't be spoiled at all.)

  2. Wow. Great minds think alike (or not, depending on your take of that cliche). Anyway, Owen Meany is in my top two. But thanks for spoiling.

  3. If you are into a History fix.
    Mayflower by Nathaniel Philbrick
    Washingtons Crossing by David Fisher
Howard Bahr wrote a few good Civil War Novels.

  4. I really liked The Hours, Michael Cunningham; Time Traveler's Wife, Audrey Niffenegger; and Life of Pi, Yann Martel (I think this is my favorite).

Looking forward to starting some of the books on your list. Some I need to re-read (I didn't really give NoTR a fair shake in school).

Maybe if I give up the TV, I'll be able to knock a few down
